Best Balsamic Vinegar Substitutes in Lentil Bolognese

4 Substitutes for Balsamic Vinegar in Lentil Bolognese

1. Red wine vinegar + pinch of sugar

Ratio: 1:1 vinegar + 1 tsp sugar per tbsp

Less complex but provides similar sweet acidity - the closest substitute.

2. Apple cider vinegar + maple syrup

Ratio: 1:1 + 1/2 tsp syrup

Fruitier sweetness - works well in dressings and marinades.

3. Pomegranate molasses

Ratio: 1:1

More intense sweetness and fruity tartness - wonderful in Middle Eastern dishes and salad dressings.

4. Tamarind paste (diluted)

Ratio: 1/2 tsp paste in 1 tbsp water

Deep, complex sourness - excellent in Asian-inspired dishes and chutneys.
