Garlic Powder: Vegan Cooking Guide

Garlic powder is dehydrated, ground garlic with a mellower, slightly sweeter flavour than fresh - it doesn't have the sharpness of raw or the depth of cooked fresh garlic, but it distributes evenly through dry rubs, spice blends and batter coatings in a way fresh garlic can't. Essential for seasoning breadcrumbs, popcorn and crispy coatings.

How to Use Garlic Powder

Use in dry spice rubs, seasoned breadcrumbs and spice blends where you want even distribution. Add to dressings and sauces where you want a background garlic flavour without texture. One teaspoon of garlic powder equals roughly 3 fresh garlic cloves in flavour.

Nutrition

Similar to fresh garlic, with concentrated allicin compounds and a range of trace minerals.
