1. Curry powder (mild)

Ratio: 1:1

Contains similar spices in a different balance - less aromatic and more earthy. Acceptable substitute.

2. Mixed whole spices (toasted, ground)

Ratio: Make your own blend

Equal parts cumin, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. Superior to both store-bought options.
